CHOWRASIA THE CADDY TURNS PRO and WINS EMAAR EUROPEAN TOUR GOLF EVENT

What Up People!?!
Please click on the title of this blog and see an incredible video of SHIV CHOWRASIA winning THE INDIAN MASTERS.
This is big stuff especially since this is the first EUROPEAN TOUR EVENT to come to INDIA. GOLF is spreading and people are very excited about what is to come.

Congrats to SHIV!!

How fantastic for golf and THE EUROPEAN TOUR.

Check out the article below.

SHIV WINS INDIAN OPEN

Associated Press
Published: February 10, 2008

NEW DELHI: Unheralded Indian golfer Shiv Chowrasia shot a 5-under-67 in the final round Sunday to clinch the Indian Masters title at the Delhi Golf Club.

Chowrasia, 29, had a bogey-free final round to win his maiden European Tour title with a four-round aggregate of nine-under par 279, two strokes ahead of Ireland's Damien McGrane who finished on seven-under par 281.

Chowrasia surged into the lead by firing three birdies over the first four holes. Not allowing his nerves to play up, the former caddie stayed ahead of the field thereafter.

"This is the biggest achievement of my life, it's beyond my expectations," said Chowrasia, the son of a greenskeeper at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club.

"I can't describe my emotions as it hasn't quite sunk in yet," Chowrasia said. "Playing the last few holes, I realized the title was within my grasp.

"Playing safe and keeping my calm was important at that stage, so I kept my cool," he said.

Chowrasia said he had a good feel about his game before the tournament, "but had no idea I will come up with this title-winning performance."

The US$2.5 million (€1.72 million) Indian Masters was jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour on which Chowrasia plays regularly, but without previously winning a title.

Marking the biggest achievement of his career, Chowrasia emulated fellow Indians Arjun Atwal and Jeev Milkha Singh, who have previously won titles on the European Tour.

McGrane's challenge suffered a jolt when he bogeyed the seventh hole. His final round card featured three bogies and five birdies for a two-under par 70 to finish two shots ahead of Spain's Jose Manuel Lara, who finished with five-under par 283 after a par-72 round Sunday.

Overnight leader Raphael Jacquelin of France had a two-over par 74 to leave him on 284, in tied fourth position with local golfer Digvijay Singh.

World No. 4 and two-time U.S. Open champion Ernie Els shot one-under par 71 in the final round to figure in a five-way tie for the sixth spot along with Thomas Bjorn, Gaurav Ghei Maarten Lafeber and Ross McGowan.

Els was unable to recover from a disappointing opening round, which featured a quadruple-bogey 9.

SCOT on SUNDAY
HUGGAN: GAME's UP UNLESS GOLF FINDS THE BALLS TO ENCOURAGE SHOT-SHAPERS

Published Date: 19 October 2008

By John Huggan

IT IS a hard fact of golfing life that sometimes the game at the highest level just isn't very interesting. Look at the PGA Tour now that the "excitement" of the "Fed-Up Cup" is over. Thankfully, there are exceptions. One reason why the Ryder and Solheim Cups are so eagerly awaited is that both are breaks from the mind-numbing tedium that is yet another 72-hole stroke-play event.

Of course, the unspoken realisation that card-and-pencil golf is inherently dull – stroke play only becomes watchable when it is magically transformed into match play on Sunday afternoons – is the biggest motivation behind the so-far failed Fed-Ex Cup
series and the European Tour's new-fangled 'Race for Dubai' that will start in China next month.

Both circuits know deep down that the only way to make their product really appealing to the public is through easily identifiable winners and losers. Bland, four-round, add-up-your-score tournaments too often fail to provide the latter. While a champ is routinely identified, there are no real chumps when everyone goes home with a cheque.

Still, protection of a perennial loser's precious ego is not the biggest reason why the world's tours have not broken away more often from the almost never-ending 72-hole routine. As usual in these circumstances, the root of that reluctance for change is money, specifically the cash poured in by television companies. Television hates match play. Not only is there no guarantee of how long each match is going to last, the potential for shock results is ever-present. No matter how well played, finals fought out between players not named Woods or Mickelson are of little interest to the likes of NBC and Sky.

Which is why the PGA and European Tours, recognising the inherent blandness of stroke play, use ridiculously overblown prize funds to distract the public from seeing through harebrained schemes that attempt the almost impossible: retaining simple addition as the measurement of success and failure within a format that does as much as it can to distance itself from that basic requirement. As the abject failure of the Fed-Ex play-off thingy has shown, however, this is no easy task.

There have been plenty of alternative suggestions, of course, perhaps the best of which proposes a four-round tournament to decide the season-long points-race winners, then a one-round, winner-take-all shoot-out for the big bucks for the top eight.

Then again, all of the above can easily be dismissed as the golfing equivalent of violin-playing on the deck of the Titanic: it may make those involved feel better in the short term but it does nothing to alter their inevitable and inexorable fate. So it is that, if professional golf is to survive and thrive as a spectator sport for the masses, changes need to be made at the macro rather than micro level.

A question: why is it that what should be an endlessly fascinating sport, played on a huge variety of endlessly fascinating sites, has apparently become less and less interesting over the last 25 years ?

A response: could it be that the style of play employed and shots struck by the most able practitioners have become increasingly one-dimensional? Does anyone really want to watch yet another high, straight shot?

And another: could it be that those endlessly fascinating sites are now routinely presented in such a uniform way that the style of play employed by the most able practitioners has, through no fault of their own, become more and more predictable?

The real answers to those questions, surely, are obvious.

Until something is done about the extraordinary distances the modern golf ball flies when struck by an elite player, then the game at that level is doomed to be ever more pedestrian.

Until something is done to allow elite players to more readily shape shots from right-to-left and left-to-right as the likes of Lee Trevino and Seve Ballesteros used to do, then we are doomed to watching practically every player hit basically the same shot time after tedious time.

And while the thoughts of golfers the world over are with Ballesteros as he lies in a Madrid hospital following surgery to remove a brain tumour, the most exciting golfer in living memory is just one who has expressed fears for the future of the game he loves.

"I see good swings and good players," said Seve. "But nothing that really keeps me watching television for a long time.

"Everybody has been equalised by the new clubs, the long putter, more loft on wedges. Something has to be done with the rules, otherwise golf will become more power than anything else."

He is right, of course. Until some imagination and flair is consistently injected into the presentation of the golf courses used for professional events – the recent Ryder Cup at Valhalla was a perfect example of how even a mediocre course set up properly can allow top players at least a chance to express themselves – then we are doomed to watch even the most creative individuals hacking out of long grass that exists only because of the aforementioned ball.

So, next time you sit in front of the box bored silly by a tournament that looks remarkably like the one you watched last week and the one you will watch next week, you'll at least know why it has all gone so horribly wrong. Not that such knowledge is much consolation as you battle to keep your eyes open.

OCT 18th, 2008-GOLF is LOOSING OUT and NEEDS an ANSWER

Golf is seeing hard times just like the financial markets and every other industry known to man.
For some, its amazing to think golf is still a priority. For others, who know what golf is capable of, they know its just a matter of time until things all flip sunny side up again.

Its the truth, once people start playing golf, our country and the world is going to be sitting a whole lot more pretty than ever before.

The following article by GOLFWEEK's Senior Writer, BRADLEY S. KLEIN, will teach you a thing or two about the financial market and its impact on the golf industry.

Go For it and Never Quit Tee'in It Up

WALL STREETS's WOES COULD SADDLE GOLF
By BRADLEY S. KLEIN
Senior Writer

From his perch in a clubhouse across New York harbor from Wall Street, Jim Coady has a wonderful view of downtown Manhattan. However, the secretary of Bayonne (N.J.) Golf Club isn’t exactly enjoying the outlook. That’s because his waterfront course, an upscale private club, caters to a New York business community that, like the rest of the country’s financial and banking community, is being shaken to the core.

It’s too early to predict the fallout from last week’s news that Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, Merrill Lynch was being sold to Bank America and the government would bail out AIG. An early stock-market plunge was followed by signs of market recovery, but continuing uncertainty on Wall Street could affect several sectors of the golf industry, including tournament sponsorships, course development and club operations.

“We have a big financial-services component to our membership,” Coady said. “We have some people who have lost their jobs recently but very few resignations. Some people are paralyzed. Decision-making is slow. Everybody has got it on their mind.”

Aside from comprising the rank-and-file of numerous New York metropolitan-area clubs, financial institutions are major supporters of championship golf.

According to Jon Podany, the PGA Tour’s senior vice president of business development, current commitments from such sponsors include Barclays, Deutsche Bank, FBR, Morgan Stanley, Northern Trust, Royal Bank of Canada, Stanford Financial, Travelers, UBS (Players Proud Partner), U.S. Bank, Wachovia and Zurich. Fortunately for the Tour, no imminent departures are expected.

“Nearly 75 percent of our agreements with financial firms are through 2012 or beyond, which is a pretty strong position,” Podany wrote in an e-mail response to a Golfweek inquiry. The sole event without a definitive sponsor commitment beyond 2009 is the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. Podany added “no sponsors have asked to get out of a contract.”

Meanwhile, a Merrill Lynch spokesperson said “there are no plans to change the sponsorship” of its Merrill Lynch Shootout. The event, hosted by Greg Norman, is in the third year of a five-year contract that expires in 2010.

Gary Stevenson, an executive in the consulting division of Wasserman Media Group and a close observer of golf sponsorships, said “I don’t think you’re going to see a huge exit, at least in the short term.”

Stevenson said golf events remain an attractive opportunity. “Any marketer will tell you that during a down market like this, that’s when you can grab market share.”

With much of the financial crisis due to shaky mortgage-lending practices, golf-related real estate likely will be one of the slowest industry sectors to recover.

Many Sunbelt golf communities already suffer from a glut of homes for sale. A tightening credit crunch means new development projects can’t get under way.

“Golf was always the red-headed stepchild of the real-estate-finance industry,” said Larry Hirsh of Golf Property Analysts Inc. “Now it’s going to be even more of a stepchild.”

Industry analysts also caution that golf, as a discretionary recreation, is vulnerable to cutbacks in consumer spending. Retirees and senior citizens, in particular, who draw upon a fixed income and are protecting their nest eggs could cut back on rounds played.

– Dan Mirocha and Adam Schupak contributed.

OCT18, 2008 MY MAN LOUIS MARTIN GIVES ME THE GO AHEAD: EXPERTS CALL FOR INNOVATION

My Man Louis Martin just sent over a blast from a Scotland Newspaper.
I am going to paste it below.
Check it out.

Here is a picture of Louis.
He is a great guy and seriously Rockin Around The World as Ernie Els Manager.

Here is LOUIS MARTIN's BIO:
With more than 20 years of experience in golf, Louis has the unique distinction of being the only person to have headed two member organisations of the International Federation of PGA Tours. Louis initially worked in the mining industry, culminating in the formation of his own engineering business which he ran for 13 years in South Africa. In 1984, Louis opened up a sports marketing and management company in South Africa, undertaking the logistical implementation and management of all
major tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. In 1996, he was appointed International Director of Golf for Masters International,London, where he was involved in sponsorship development and event consulting as well as representation for professional golfers.

Appointed Chief Executive to the Sunshine Tour in 1998, he served in that role until 2003. He then held senior management positions developing international events for the PGA European Tour and International Sports Management (ISM) prior to his appointment as Chief Executive of the Asian Tour in January 2003. Now based in Singapore, Louis currently handles the business interests for both ISM and Ernie Els in Asia.

So check out what Louis sent me the other day and have a great day!

Tonight I was having a conversation with a friend who had no idea how we were going to add music to golf.
Then I showed him this video game and he understood.

OCT 17th, 2008-OLYMPICS WILL GET THEIR GOLF ON

Oct 16 2008 Votaw Updates IGF Delegates on Olympic Golf Movement

Looks Like The Olympics is getting closer to making decisions on The Future of Golf as an Olympic Sport for the 2016 Games.
Recently an INTERNATIONAL GOLF FEDERATION Meeting put the game at the front of the list for new sports entering the International Olympic Scene. Its going to be an interesting conversation and debate since the Olympics have traditionally maximized the talents of Amatuers.

But now, as sponsorship and advertising increases, the professional athlete becomes so much more important.

Who is going to watch a bunch of no name golfers?

The INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE will decide if golf will be included in the 2016 Olympics and what sort of format will be played.

What is known, golf could seriously use this World Wide Coverage.

For more than 80 years, golf has been talked about as an Olympic Sport and now, it is closer than ever to becoming one.

Below is the article from THE EUROPEAN PGA TOUR WEBSITE talking about the details.

I dont know what the final outcome will be, but I am hoping The International Federation of Golf will work closely with THE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE and come up with the best opportunity for all organizations involved.

IGF MEETING
The International Golf Federation Olympic Committee continues its efforts to add golf to the 2016 Olympic Games and is seeking constituent support along the way.

Last week during the World Amateur Team Championships in Adelaide, Australia, PGA TOUR Executive Ty Votaw, as Executive Director of the IGF Olympic Committee, provided a progress report to IGF delegates from more than 70 countries as well as the 18-member International Golf Federation Administrative Committee. Votaw also sought assistance from the delegates, suggesting they interact with members of the International Olympic Committee from their respective countries, voice their support of the Olympic golf movement and reinforce the virtues of the game as a potential Olympic sport.

During the course of Votaw’s visit, member organizations pledged their support through future efforts as well as financial backing over the next 12 months to help defray costs of the bid. The IOC will determine in October 2009 whether to add no more than two of seven sports under consideration for the 2016 Games: golf, baseball, karate, roller sports, rugby sevens, softball and squash.

“The IGF effort to promote Olympic golf will benefit significantly by maximizing the exposure it receives,” said Peter Dawson, Chief Executive of The R&A and co-secretary of the IGF. “The World Amateur Team Championships presented an ideal forum to discuss the efforts and associated issues, and to seek backing from an international base of constituents. Ty provided vital information and was able to garner much valuable support.”

“Considering we have just 12 months to solidify our case for golf’s immediate future as an Olympic sport, we need to make the most of every opportunity that presents itself,” said David Fay, Executive Director of the United States Golf Association and co-secretary of the IGF. “This was definitely time well spent with a valuable audience that can help to make a difference in our Olympic bid.”

Golf is bidding for inclusion as an Olympic sport for the first time since 1904, when it was contested in St. Louis, USA. At that time, men’s individual and team titles were contested among 77 golfers representing just two nations – 74 from the United States and three from Canada. In 2008, approximately 20 countries are represented in the top 100 world rankings for both men and women.

The International Golf Federation, recognized as the representative body for golf by the International Olympic Committee, announced in July the creation of the Olympic Golf Committee to drive its effort for the sport’s inclusion in the 2016 Games. Organizations represented on the committee are The R&A, PGA European Tour, USGA, PGA of America, PGA TOUR, LPGA and Augusta National Golf Club.

The IGF was founded in 1958 as the World Amateur Golf Council to encourage the international development of the game. It took its current name in 2003 and today includes the national governing bodies of golf from more than 110 countries.

The host city for the 2016 Games also will be determined at the 121st IOC session, scheduled for October 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The four finalists are Chicago, USA; Madrid, Spain; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Tokyo, Japan.

OCTOBER 16th, 2008-THE PAST and THE FUTURE

Hip-hop par-ty for golfers in San Francisco
About three years ago, I put on this event in San Francisco.
That seems like a long time ago considering where this project has come from.

It has been a wild ride, but in the end, I knew it would be for a project like this is never easy to get off the ground.

Since you dont know the whole story of what I had to go through to get THE FUTURE of GOLF launched, please stay tuned to this blog and my upcoming book series, THE INTERGALACTIC ADVENTURES of THE MACK DADDY CADDY due out in 2011.

Until then, stay tuned for weekly updates right here.

Oakland Tribune, Oct 15, 2005

GOLFERS, GET ready to trade in your plaid pants and polos for some serious bling when golf goes ghetto-fabulous at the Urban Country Club.

The sport usually associated with country clubs takes to the streets of San Francisco at an outdoor hip-hop show benefiting the New Orleans Boys & Girls Club on Saturday. The RZA of Wu Tang fame emcees the event, which features a nine-hole putt-putt course, pimped out golf carts and graffiti artists galore.

The Urban Country Club was created by multimedia event producers Mack Daddy Caddy in response to the inaccessibility and exclusivity of the sport. Hip-hop and urban culture breathe new life into the otherwise straight-laced sport, creating a "fresh and funktified" image, says Luke Kohl, co-founder of Mack Daddy Caddy.

The Urban Country Club is divided into a morning and afternoon session. Tee off at 11 a.m. with Kevvy Kev, Stanford's host of "The Drum," the longest running hip-hop radio show in the nation, as he hosts an hour-long forum with champion golfer Walter Morgan. The RZA and DJ Evil E join Morgan on the panel and discuss staying at the top of your game, be it music or golf. The country club reopens at 2 p.m. with a concert by The RZA, Evil E, Rasco, Jennifer Johns, Sake 1 and includes break dancing and a

3,600-square-foot putt-putt course.

The morning forum is free. Tickets for the afternoon concert are $15 and available in advance or day-of. The Urban Country Club is at Central Parking at 10th and Mission streets in San Francisco. Call (866) 636-8145 or visit http://www.mackdaddycaddy.com.

Michael Jordan loves golf and has been playing for a long time.
Golf calms his nerves and takes him to a happy place, just as it does with so many others.

Hello Peoples Around The World.
I hope this day finds you fantastic.

I have been traveling a lot recently.
One of the spots of focus is THE MIDDLE EAST and specifically DUBAI.

In The Middle East there is an oasis being built that no one could have imagined.

When you tell people who are unfamiliar to the developments about what is going on, their jaw drops.

In Dubai, the buildings stretch into the sky and are taller than most buildings in the world.

The ocean water is crystal blue and island communities are scattered along the coast.

It is a dream, beautiful and unlike anything you have ever seen or could imagine.

Immediately you are transported to THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD.

Dubai is The Future.
I am certain.

Years ago, HH Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum envisioned a land of great opportunities for the entire world to enjoy. He began building his dream many years ago. Now his son HH Sheikh Maktoum picks up the duties and takes care of business. He is building a Kingdom of Excellence in The Dessert.

Dubai is becoming the most advanced civilization and architecture hub in the world.
They are receiving a lot of attention for the uber amounts of money they spend on development. Will people actually come?
Many people around the world believe The Future of The World rests in Dubai. As it has been said, Build it and They Will come.

That is, as soon as people know about it.

Word must spread and some of the preconceived notions must gently fade.

Dubai is on the map and making a very strong push to drive both travel and tourism, business, manufacturing, and more.

DUBAI is EXTREMELY SAFE and becoming a get away for all people.

A billion here, a billion there, it seems as though the spending spree in the Middle East will never end.

Nor will it ever have to.

For here is where the future of civilization begins.

Thing is, these Gents are committed to making their home town the finest place on earth. How cool is that!!

Sure its hot, but with the luxury and amenities present, how could the world not flock to Dubai. Ski lovers can enjoy themselves in the world's largest indoor ski slope as surfers play in the world's largest wave pools.

And if you love golf, then you have found The World's Mecca, for Dubai is the home of the finest golf experiences in the universe.

Dubai loves golf, they love amusement parks, and are waiting to entertain you day after day with the finest in living arrangements.

My conversation about THE FUTURE of GOLF has brought me to Dubai and for the past six months I have been studying this region of the world intensely because I know this is where THE FUTURE of GOLF is located. The popularity of golf in this region is growing daily. Golf is powerful and gaining significant momentum on the under current especially.

The media doesn't know what is in store just yet. But soon they will.

Those living in The Middle East love golf and my conversations prove there is great opportunity here for both GOLF MEDIA and ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRIES. Though The Sheikhs do not play, they are fascinated by the prowess and stamina of professional golfers. What a great thing. They want to support the greatest golfers do what they love most.

Dubai has the greatest golf courses in the world and have invested in the finest golfers bringing their own special experiences to this beautiful region, often called THE KINGDOM.

TIGER, SERGIO, ELS, MONTGOMERY, NORMAN, and SINGH all have golf courses.
And in the last couple months, The European Tour has up and relocated their headquarters to a new facility built for them here in Dubai, The Beating Heart of The Middle East.

This move is all a part of The Sheikhs desire to grow golf and make the sport one of the most popular sports anywhere in the world.

At the head of all the golf course design and production is The Aussie Mr. David Spencer, a marketing and finance guru who has been entrusted with building up the Dubai and Emirates Golf Market.

His plan, transform Dubai into a Golf Mecca and bring people from all over the world there to experience A Real Dream.

Please stay tuned and please don't forget to click on the title above to watch the video.

Its awesome!!!

DUBAI is THE FUTURE!!

OCT 12th, 2008-NAKHEEL INVESTS IN DREAMERS and VISIONARIES TO BOOST ECONOMY

Where Dreams Become Reality...Nakheel.

Seems like most people have forgot about dreams and big visions.
Not Nakheel.

The Dubai stationed real estate developer dreams bigger than most.
Take for instance the man made islands making up THE WORLD PROJECT.

Defy reality and create something so fresh and innovative, it can only be found in one place on EARTH....

NAKHEEL is building DUBAI and making it larger than life.

OCT 12, 2008-MICHAEL DOUGLAS visits DUBAI

I RECENTLY spotted this video of Michael Douglas nad his wife Katherine Zeta Jones

OCT 12, 2008-EUROPEAN TOUR MOVES to DUBAI

Hello Everyone,

I am sorry to have not written for some time.
I know some of you out there have been waiting.
I appreciate your patience.

I hope this finds you all fantastic.

There is a lot going on with the Golf Industry and financial markets around the world right now.
Its truly amazing how the two are so closely tied to one another.

I have been very busy traveling and meeting with leading officials and executives who are part of THE GOLF REVOLUTION and FUTURE of GOLF PROGRAMING.

Over the past several months, I have been busy speaking with teams from FRANCE, SPAIN, GERMANY, ASIAN COUNTRIES, SINGAPORE, DUBAI, AUSTRALIA, and more about INTERGALACTIC GOLF and THE FUTURE of GOLF PROGRAMMING.

What has been amazing to witness is how our economy is tanking and still, large sums of money is being spent on golf.
Actually, there is more international money being spent on golf than any other sport in the world.

Corporate, which some of us may be upset at right now for the mess on Wall Street, knows the future depends on strong international golf programming.

An incredible group out of Dubai by the names of Dubai World, Leisure Corp, Nakheel, and a couple other firms are pushing The International Game to new levels of popularity.

I am interested to see what they will introduce.

I am certain INTERGALACTIC GOLF will make its debut soon.

Please see the following article:

The launch of The Race to Dubai at the HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China, on November 6 heralds the start of the most momentous season in the history of The European Tour.

No fewer than 53 tournaments will be played on the inaugural Race to Dubai on The 38th European Tour International Schedule which will visit 26 destinations before reaching a thrilling crescendo with The Dubai World Championship at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE, from November 19-22, 2009.

The record number of tournaments is due in part to a minimum of two tournaments – the HSBC Champions and the UBS Hong Kong Open – each being played twice on The 2009 European Tour International Schedule.

In addition there are five ‘new’ tournaments – the Czech Golf Open, The English Open, the Canal + Open, the Volvo World Match Play Championship and The Dubai World Championship – on The 2009 European Tour International Schedule on which the New Zealand Open, the BMW Asian Open and the Volvo Masters will not feature.

Significantly the expanded season will enable The European Tour to arrange a calendar year programme in 2010 when The European Tour International Schedule will start with the South African Open on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course at the Pearl Valley Golf Estates in the Western Cape and conclude with The Dubai World Championship at the landmark development of Jumeirah Golf Estates which will have four courses in total and 13 planned residential communities.

This schedule will see Leisurecorp, the Dubai World company specialising in developments and investments in the sport and leisure sector and with whom The European Tour have a wide-ranging partnership, host the start and finish of The 2010 European Tour International Schedule.

Leisurecorp have also acquired Turnberry on Scotland’s Ayrshire coast where The 138th Open Championship will be played in 2009 and which will, of course, feature on The European Tour Race to Dubai.

George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, said: “We are excited about the start of The Race to Dubai and the superb quality of the field for the HSBC Champions in Shanghai, with five of the top seven currently active players in the world all entered, provides ample evidence of the high drama and great theatre that lies ahead.

“The Race to Dubai will bring a new dimension to The European Tour and the partnership with Leisurecorp is central to our plans for the future so we are particularly delighted that three of their prestigious golf facilities are hosting competition in 2009, and that Pearl Valley Golf Estates and Jumeirah Golf Estates will start and finish the 2010 season.

“The 2009 European Tour International Schedule confirms how The European Tour has become ever-more global in its outlook with 26 destinations now featured with the Czech Golf Open returning for the first time in 12 years.”

The Czech Golf Open at Prosper Golf Resort, ÄŒeladná, from July 30-August 2 is the first of the five ‘new’ tournaments to be played on The 2009 European Tour International Schedule. The others are The English Open, returning after an absence of seven years, at St Mellion International Resort, Cornwall; the inaugural Canal + Open; the Volvo World Match Play Championship at the new venue of Finca Cortesin Golf Club in Malaga, Spain; and The Dubai World Championship which concludes The Race to Dubai from November 19-22, 2009.

Other notable changes for 2009 include the Johnnie Walker Classic returning to The Vines Resort & Country Club, Perth, Western Australia, where it was last played in 2006; the Indonesia Open moving to the New Kuta Golf Club in Bali; The European Open occupying a new date between the BMW PGA Championship and The Celtic Manor Wales Open; and the SAS Masters returning, the week following The 138th Open Championship, to Barsebäck Golf & Country Club, Skåne, Sweden, where it has been played eight times in the past.

The Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre, Crans Montana, Switzerland, from September 3-6 will once more launch the start of the qualifying race for places in The European Team for The Ryder Cup which, in 2010, is being played on The Twenty Ten course at The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, South Wales, from October 1-3.
